1. According to the
author, what did the continual celebration of the Passover do for the people of
Israel?
The
Israelites were under the slavery of Pharaoh in Egypt for long years. The lord
heard their cry when they are oppressed. God raised Moses as leader to redeemed
them and God perfumed many miracles in order to free the Israelites through
Moses for example ten plagues. God killed the first-born son of all Egyptian
including livestock except Israel's. God passed over by Israelites when he was
killing the first son. This is what the continual celebration of the Passover
reminded them that they are the only one God's people whom God freed them from
the slavery and made them his own. This made them God's people and give theme
nation. The Passover is the day when God redeem them from the long slavery and
oppression.
2 According to Mathew
26:26-28, what is the sign of the New Covenant?
According
to the Mathew 26:26-28, The bread and wine are the sign of New Covenant. The bread
represents the body of Christ and the wine represent the blood of Christ. taking
bread and drinking wine will not change our life but it reminds us what Christ
has done for us. the bread and wine are like the wedding ring of bridegroom for
his bride. The ring reminds bride her
bridegroom's love, commitment for her. in the same way, the two elements of the
lord's supper bread and wine reminds us Christ love and commitment for everyone
who partake on it. It is the new covenant of Christ for his people. Some people
believe that the blood and body of Christ is literally changed in the wine and bread
of the lord's supper whereas others say it is the only symbolled. I believe
that it is only symbols.
3. Why would it be
wrong to partake of the lord's Supper when you are living in broken fellowship
or disunity with another member of your church?
The
lord's supper is one of the ordinances that is given by Lord Jesus Christ. it
is known by different names like eucharist and last supper. Lord has given some
certain rules like how can we partake Lord's Supper and who can partake? (1Cor11:27-28).
We are not allowed to partake on lord's supper in unworthy manner and are
commanded to examine ourselves before partaking on it. We are not allowed to partake of lord's supper when we are living in broken
fellowship or disunity with another member of our church because it is sin.
That's why it would be wrong to partake.
4. How would you defend the position that the
lord's Supper is only for baptized followers of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Baptism
is the outside sign for the believers. Baptism say that they are in Christ and
Christ is in him. it is the publicly confession of their faith in Christ. It is also the qualification for the believers
to be the church's members participation in every activity of the local church. the lord's supper is given by those who have
faith in Christ. it is time of renewing of their faith in Christ. without
having faith in Christ none can renew it. Therefore, the lord's supper is only
baptized followers of the lord Jesus Christ.
5. How have your
views of the lord's Supper been challenged or changed by reading this book?
This book is short and sweet book on the basis of lords' supper. It is enough for those who normally want to have clear understating of the lord's supper. I am challenged very much by this book knowing who gives, who takes and where and how one can partake in lord's supper? I have not much knowledge about detailly. Reading this book gives more and more important understanding of the lord's supper. It has changed my thought on lord's supper. The lord's supper makes us many into one. We all are different but are one in Christ.
6. Describe any
points of disagreement that you had with what was written in this book.
I
disagree with the point of the lord's supper is only for the church members.
Even baptized believers who belong to another church should be excluded from
the lord's supper. I surprised to know this but I disagree with this point as
the author of this book also not agree. Many missionaries and evangelists who are not belong to the church
have participated on lord's supper in the bible like Paul, timothy,
Luke(Acts2,20).
