Biblical Perspective on Divorce

Before entering into the topic of divorce, we have to know what marriage is. Marriage is given by God, or He started marriage from the very beginning of the world (Gen. 2:18–25). Marriage is a lifelong commitment between husband and wife. If we look in the Old Testament, those who marry shall leave their father and mother and hold fast to their wives, and they shall become one flesh (Gen. 2:24). As this is a commandment of God, He hates divorce (Mal. 2:14–16). According to the Old Testament, we can see that Moses allowed the Israelites to get divorced because of their hard hearts, but from the beginning it was not so (Matt. 19:8). But during the time of Jesus’ earthly ministry, some Pharisees raised the question of whether a man could divorce his wife for any reason (Matt. 19:3). But Jesus proves them wrong and replies that what God has joined together, let man not separate (Mat. 19:6). The Bible tells us that if anyone wants to give divorce, they should give a divorce certificate, but they must have a specific reason; otherwise, anyone who divorces his wife except for marital unfaithfulness causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery (Mat. 5:31–32). [21] In the letter of Paul, we can see that here Jesus commands the married wife not to separate from her husband. But if she became separated, she should not marry again but instead reconcile with her husband, just as her husband must not divorce his wife. (1Cor.7:10-11).

God is not irresponsible janitor.

God is holy and just judge. He is loving and compassionate God. He is not only life giver lord but also, he is judge who will judge according to our day-to-day work. He will not leave to punish who are doing sin against God. Traffic police can be irresponsible janitor because he takes bribes to hide the mistake of people . God never to do that, he will not hide anyone’s sin and evil work but judge it righteously. Habakkuk 1:13 says’ your eyes are too pure to look on evil and you can’t tolerate wrong. God can’t tolerate the wrong. If God tolerate the wrong, he can be unjust gods but he is not like that. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of God’s throne (89:14).   How can God love and judge at the same time?  One can this happening on the cross. God judge Christ on the cross at the same time he loved and forgave to those who trust in the redemptive work of Christ on the cross. God is not unscrupulous janitor so he judged Christ and destroy the sin saved the...
